On Saturday, February 25, we had a good work day at Chase with several different tasks receiving attention. We developed a process for removing the window glass in passenger coach No. 6082, disassembling the window, changing the gasket over to single pane, reassembling the window and reinstalling the window in the coach. This coach was built with double-pane glass and at one point we had replaced the outer pane with acrylic plastic. The acrylic plastic in this car had yellowed over the years and had become cloudy to the point that visibility was very poor. We are converting over to single pane glass and we are hoping the transition will go smoothly and resist leaks. Also the track gang was hard at work with our new backhoe and replaced numerous crossties in the vicinity of the depot. It’s nice to see the weather finally break and make this type of work possible !
